TOAF proved a hugely rewarding experience; I was fortunate enough to speak to a host of art enthusiasts and talented artists.
The work received a good reception; I now hope to build on that with more material this year!
One point to note - I was later informed that on Saturday (12 May) a lady had patiently waited to speak to me only for me not to see her. On the chance that this lady has visited the website; sincere apologies that we did not get to speak. I would have thoroughly enjoyed discussing my work with you.
I have been lucky enough to be selected to participate in May's upcoming The Other Art Fair. TOAF is London's newest art fair, providing an open platform for emerging artists to show their work.
I will be displaying a selection of work both large and small from my debut exhibitions.

Following on from "Menagerie" and "Menagerie: Revisted" I have been commissioned by BIC® to be the featured artist for their "BIC Creativity" Facebook page throughout the month of February.
On this page I provide images of my collection as well as purpose-made sketches to show how I try to achieve vibrant and striking results with the BIC® range.
Many thanks to BIC® for this exciting new opportunity; I hope visitors enjoy reading the features included.

My show at 60 Threadneedle Street is now drawing to a close. It has been amazing to display my work at such an impressive venue; the large spaces were an ideal backdrop for my debut collection.
I'd once again like to thank Vanessa Brady of VJB Arts for the opportunity and John Jones for their help and guidance.
Working in collaboration with VJB Arts, the collection "Menagerie: Revisited" is now on show at 60 Threadneedle Street in the heart of the City of London.
Drawing on the ideas developed to create the original collection, with the four new pieces I have used both bold and intricate line to try and capture patterns and structures present in the natural world. By doing so I have attempted to convey the power and grace of the creatures depicted.
I would like to thank Vanessa Brady of VJB Arts for kindly giving me this opportunity to show at such a fantastic, spacious venue; and for helping me realise this new, expanded show.
I have also had the pleasure of working closely with Framers and Art Consultants John Jones for the new pieces. Their help and guidance has been invaluable, and I'm delighted that my new work is presented in four exquisite John Jones frames.
The week at The Air Gallery proved to be a very rewarding experience, with Sophie and I meeting some great people. We both now look to build on this with more material. Following are a few pictures of the work in situ. Please visit Sophie's website for pictures of her work.
One of two shows from brother and sister artist collaboration
Joseph and Sophie Gartell.
Joseph Gartell presents his debut show "Menagerie"; an exploration of line and form in the natural world. Joseph's distinctive style emerges from a process of re-imagination; each piece is built from the shapes and forms Joseph sees in his subject. The result is intended to be powerful; "Menagerie" is a celebration of the energy and vibrancy of the animal kingdom.
Running consecutively with Joseph's show, Sophie Gartell presents STORE IN A COOL, DRY PLACE. Visit www.sophiegartell.com for details.
